01 Broken bond
The quiet standard. End joints are staggered irregularly from course to course, usually by at least forty centimetres, so that no staircase pattern appears.
We treat your home as if it were our own
A floor is never laid in one piece. It goes down course by course. How straight the first course sits, how far the end joints are staggered and how cleanly the last course meets the wall is what you look at for years. Farbenhaft24 lays vinyl, laminate, parquet and carpet in Erkelenz and across the Heinsberg region.

The same material looks different in four bonds. A long hallway is made longer by boards running lengthways, a narrow room wider by boards running across. We draw the bond before anything is ordered, so you can see where the courses run and where the offcuts fall.
The quiet standard. End joints are staggered irregularly from course to course, usually by at least forty centimetres, so that no staircase pattern appears.
Two staves meet at a right angle and form an upright zigzag. More work to cut, and the bond that gives an older room its composure at once.
Short staves laid into squares, each field turned by ninety degrees. It breaks the line of sight and makes a large area read more calmly than a continuous bond.
The whole bond turned by forty five degrees. It pulls the eye into the diagonal of the room, makes small rooms feel wider and needs more cutting at every wall.
Which bond makes sense in the end depends on the shape of the room, on how the light falls and on the covering itself. We go through that with you when we measure up.
Discuss the bondEvery job follows the same order, because otherwise the mistakes carry through. What sits wrong in course one cannot be corrected in course five.

End joint Staggered end joints: no joint sits in the same place in the next course.
Measure the area, record doors, recesses and heating pipes, judge the existing covering and settle the build height that is left once everything is out.
Test the screed for residual moisture, flatness and strength. Close cracks, fill unevenness, prime absorbent areas. No covering holds on a subfloor that does not carry.
Settle the covering, the underlay and the profiles, set the bond out on the room and calculate the offcuts in advance, so the last course does not end as a narrow strip.
Align the first course, set the expansion gaps, work on course by course with staggered joints, undercut door frames and cut every opening cleanly.
Fit skirtings, threshold profiles and silicone joints, clean the area and hand it over together. Care instructions for the covering are included.
Moving furniture, lifting the old covering and disposing of it can be included on request. Just tell us what is still standing in the room.
There is no covering that is right everywhere. A bathroom asks for something other than a bedroom, a surgery for something other than a loft. We advise by use, subfloor and build height, not by catalogue page.
Suitable for wet rooms, warm underfoot and quiet. As a click system or fully bonded, also for kitchens, bathrooms and hallways where water reaches the floor regularly.
A robust wear layer at a manageable price. Laid floating on impact sound insulation, with an expansion gap at the wall so the area can move.
Real timber with a grain that makes every board different. Floating or bonded, depending on the subfloor, the size of the room and how you want it to feel underfoot.
Warm underfoot and effective against reverberation. As broadloom or tiles, bonded or tackified, for bedrooms and quiet offices.
The layer under the covering decides walking sound and impact sound protection for the floor below. It is chosen for the covering, the screed and the build height, never as a default.
With underfloor heating the choice narrows, because the covering and the underlay together must not exceed a given thermal resistance. We check that before anything is ordered.
Ask for adviceA floor is judged at its edges. The area in the middle nearly always looks good. Whether the work is clean shows at the door frame, at the heating pipe and at the skirting in front of a crooked old wall.

Mitred at the corners, fitted around projections and set so the expansion gap stays hidden while the covering underneath can still move.
Between two coverings or two rooms. Height compensation where the screed and the older build do not sit on one level, and a profile that does not become something to trip over.
Frames are undercut rather than having the covering pieced around them. Heating pipes get a clean cut out with a rosette instead of a filled improvisation.
Air is left all the way round, because every covering moves with temperature and humidity. On large areas an expansion joint is added before the floor lifts.
Old skirtings that you want to keep are taken off carefully and put back. Tell us beforehand if something depends on them.
A few details are enough for the first call back. We settle the rest on the phone or when we measure up in Erkelenz.
We call you back and arrange a time to measure the room.
Six photographs on the points that decide a floor: direction, joint stagger, bond, cutting and the edge.
From Hückelhoven we are in Erkelenz within minutes. That keeps the journey short for measuring up, for the material appointment and for the small piece of follow up work that otherwise gets left.
In the centre of Erkelenz and in the older streets we often meet subfloors that have grown over time: boards on joists, old screeds with cracks, rooms that are square at no wall at all. There the preparation decides the result, and the first course is aligned not to the wall but to the axis that will look straight in the finished room.
In the newer estates and in the districts from Gerderath to Lövenich there is usually a young screed with underfloor heating. Here what counts is residual moisture, the heat up record and the question of which build still lets the warmth through. We measure before ordering rather than argue after laying.

An enquiry is worth making beyond the list as well. Tell us the place and we will tell you whether we come out.
A room design company run by its owner. Flooring, painting, wallpaper, plaster and drywall come from one hand, which saves the coordination between trades during a renovation.

Because floor and wall sit in the same company here, the order of work can be planned properly: fill and paint first, then the covering, then the skirtings. That saves masking, saves rework and saves at least one appointment.
Your satisfaction is our success
The answers hold for the normal case. What holds for your room is settled when we measure up.
Not always. Tiles and firm old coverings can serve as a subfloor where the build height allows, provided they are flat, dry and firmly bonded. Carpet, soft coverings and anything that moves has to come out. We decide that on site and not on the phone.
A normally shaped living room with a prepared subfloor is usually laid in one working day, skirtings included. If filling is needed, the compound needs its drying time and that becomes two appointments. Herringbone and diagonal laying take longer than a broken bond.
Coverings with low thermal resistance are suitable: bonded vinyl, engineered parquet in a suitable thickness, thin laminates with matching underlay. What counts is the sum of covering and underlay. We work it out against the manufacturer data before ordering.
Every floating covering expands with temperature and humidity. Without an expansion gap the area presses against the wall and lifts in the middle. The gap later disappears under the skirting and cannot be seen from outside.
Yes. Lifting it, carrying it out and disposing of it properly can be included. Say so with your enquiry, so that disposal is in the quotation and does not turn up as a surprise on the laying day.
Yes, that is the normal case. We work room by room, mask the adjoining areas and clear the working area at the end of each day so the flat stays usable. Furniture can be moved along with the work on request.
